"The externship did influence my career choice/goals. It helped me to get a better idea of what to do in my career field. It also showed how any type of experience related to your career can really help you make better choices. I felt all aspects of the job were positive. Their reasons for working, the plan behind it, and the way they implement it are all positive."
—Terriana Rondo, Externship at Marion County Health Department
"It was absolutely fantastic. I did my externship at Marion County Superior Court Juvenile Probation and had an amazing time. I was able to observe several juvenile initial hearings, which was interesting because there were so many different offenses from all ends of the spectrum. It was an honor to be there and to be involved. I am highly considering a career in this field because it has always interested me. I knew I wanted to be involved with criminal justice my entire life. Doing this externship has just given me the reassurance I needed to know that I would enjoy a career in juvenile probation."
—Amanda Derr, Externship at Marion County Superior Court Probation
"Prior to my externship, I was not open to the idea of social work as a major or even a possibility of interest. Now that I have had the opportunity to be in the role, I have been able to gain a new perspective on my abilities and knowledge about psychology and my comfort about what I am able to do with my degree. The externship had a very strong impact on my career choices. It showed me my abilities and diffused the doubt I had about whether or not psychology was the right choice for me. I was able to open myself up to other options."
