A curriculum vitae, also known as a vitae or CV, is typically used for faculty positions in higher education. A typical CV may be two to four pages or even longer for someone with years of experience in their field. Unlike a resume, which is brief and usually doesn't use full sentences or paragraphs, a CV can have narrative or be text rich.
A CV usually includes similar topics to a resume, but in much greater detail and often with supporting examples. You might think of a CV as being between a resume and a portfolio. Portfolios may include a resume or CV along with documents and print media such as artwork, lesson plans, business cases, or even electronic media examples.
